More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesLatinos are more obese than all other racial groups in Santa Clara County. Mayfair's immigrant Latino community has limited access to nutritious food and safe places to exercise. Women and their families cannot afford health care. These social and economic conditions prevent these families from living healthy lives. Activities20 women in this 6 month program benefit from nutrition and exercise classes, health screenings, physical examinations and family gym memberships, basic healthcare that would otherwise be too expensive for these low-income families. Why this Project is ImportantPotential Long Term ImpactObesity leads to diabetes; a deadly illness that is ravaging this community. By providing preventative intervention and care, Somos Mayfair is saving lives. Project Message
The nutrition classes helped me because I learned to read food labels and learned how to make healthier eating choices. It was also nice to have access to health care since a lot of us don’t have it. Who is Running This ProjectContact
